It's Your FaithBy Pastor Ellen Arthur -- Valley City
“It’s not your father’s Oldsmobile,” an advertising slogan of
several years ago, is appropriate for this time of year as new students head off
to college and returning students look forward to another year of learning and
exploring very different from their parents.
Trying things out for yourself -
from clothes to class subjects to friends -
is a major part of the college/university years.
Mom and dad aren’t around to advise (or dictate); this can be good news
as well as bad news; and it gives mom and dad gray hair! How about church life – your faith in God? Confirmation class was at least three years ago. Home congregation and “the way we’ve always done it” is left behind. Maybe worship wasn’t high on the priority list those last couple years in high school. |
