Exciting
News on Expanding the ULC! Now
that the parking shortage around NDSU has attracted a wider interest in the
lot next door, the Board was invited to submit a closed bid on this property,
which we have had an interest in for many years.
Our offer was accepted! and we have just closed the
deal on the adjacent lot and house. Peer
ministers move in soon! Finally,
we have a chance to live into our vision and strategic plan for growth!
Our plan is to add up to 15 parking spaces and to house a future
pastoral intern. Our board, with
the support of many synod and area leaders, has accepted the challenge of
taking a big step into our vision. With
the support and excitement of synod and churchwide leaders, we have been
awarded a Mission Investment Fund loan. This
is the first time that the ELCA Mission Investment Fund has worked together
with Lutheran Campus Ministry! We
were also awarded a $10,000 grant from National Lutheran Campus Ministry,
Inc. to assist us with the down payment. We
have even received generous gifts pledging to match $600 gifts toward
this project. (Each of these gifts
by Thrivent members would also be matched by another 50%, which
means your gift of $600 turns into $1200 or $1500.)
Of course, any amounts will also help and are certainly most welcome! You
have an opportunity and there is an urgent need for you to be involved
in a powerful way for the future of Lutheran Campus Ministry!
Please consider responding to
this invitation with a gift to the Anniversary Expansion Project. Call
us at 701-232-2587 for more info. We
can help you line up matching gifts and Thrivent Giving Plus.
You can send gifts to Lutheran Campus Council, 1201 13th Ave
N, Fargo, ND 58102. We
are excited about the new possibilities for our campus outreach as we renovate
and grow staff and expand parking! We
thank you for your help toward our vision of a growing faith community at
NDSU. And
please join us for the Anniversary/ Homecoming Banquet on October 6! In
Faith, Hope and Love, Darin Johnson, Lutheran Campus Pastor at
NDSU
